About
Black literature and a cultural center in Ypsilanti.Black Stone sits at 214 W Michigan Ave in downtown Ypsilanti and builds its shelves around Black authors: fiction and nonfiction, poetry, civil rights and African American history, identity, and a juvenile and young adult section that is one of the strongest in the region for children's books by Black writers. The second half of the name is doing real work. The shop runs as a cultural center too, with author events, readings and community programming on the calendar alongside the retail floor, and it carries audiobooks and merchandise.Open 11am to 7pm Monday through Saturday and closed Sunday. Downtown Ypsilanti is about ten minutes east of Ann Arbor on Michigan Avenue, and the shop is a short walk from Depot Town.
