The west side general bookstore, open from 9am.This is the store Ann Arbor knew as Nicola's Books for 27 years. Schuler Books bought it in 2014, kept the Nicola's name, and renamed it Schuler Books in July 2022, then took over a neighbouring storefront to expand. The stock is general interest with real depth in literary fiction, memoir and children's books, and the children's section is one of the strongest in the county.It sits in Westgate Shopping Center at 2513 Jackson Ave with a parking lot in front, which matters if you have been circling downtown for twenty minutes.The hours are the useful part. Schuler opens at 9am Monday through Saturday, two hours before any independent bookstore in Ann Arbor unlocks its door, and runs to 8pm. Sunday is 10am to 7pm. If you want a bookstore before eleven in the morning, this is the one that is open.
