The Best Holiday Markets Near Ann Arbor: Every 2026 Date

Washtenaw County’s holiday market season is three days long.

Friday 4 December to Sunday 6 December 2026. That is when the Christmas market, the pottery sale, the late-night shopping night and four of the county’s five parades all happen, and it is close to the whole of it. If you are free that weekend you can do the entire season. If you are not, every one-day market in this county has already come and gone by the time you look up.

The useful half of this guide is the second half, because there is an answer for everyone in the second group, and it is not the one the roundups give. Two markets here run weekly straight through December. Nobody puts them in a holiday article, because weekly things are not news.

Every date, hour and price below came off the organiser’s own page in the last 24 hours. Where it did not, the text says so and gives you a phone number.

Read this first: the first-weekend problem

Friday 4 December 2026 is carrying four separate events. KindleFest in Kerrytown from 5pm to 10pm. Midnight Madness on Main Street from 5pm to midnight. Light Up Dexter at 6pm. Chelsea’s tree lighting the same evening. Two of those four are about ten minutes’ walk apart, which is the one piece of good news in this paragraph.

Saturday 5 December adds the Potters Guild sale and four parades, in Chelsea, Saline, Milan and Manchester. Sunday 6 December is the second day of the Potters Guild sale and then the season is effectively over.

So the planning question is not “which market should I go to.” It is “can I make the first weekend of December.” If yes, the walkable pairing is KindleFest then Main Street on the Friday, and the Potters Guild on the Saturday morning before the parades start. If no, skip to the weekly markets below, because the one-day events will not wait for you.

For the lighting and parade side of that same weekend, with every start time, see the holiday lights guide.

KindleFest: the one that is actually a Christmas market

Friday 4 December 2026, 5pm to 10pm, in the Kerrytown district. Free.

This is the Christkindlmarkt, and it is the only thing in Washtenaw County that fits the description people have in their heads when they type “Christmas market.” Artisan vendors outdoors with holiday wares, food trucks, hot food stalls, beer and Glühwein for sale. The district’s shops and restaurants stay open late around it, which is the part that makes it worth arriving early rather than at eight.

The evening splits in two. Kids’ activities run 5pm to 7pm, with Santa, a balloon artist, hands-on activities from the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and the Leslie Science and Nature Center, and a performance by iBallet. Music runs 7pm to 10pm, with the Pioneer Choir and the Ann Arbor Concert Band. If you are bringing small children, the first two hours are the ones built for them.

The market sets up around Kerrytown Market and Shops at 407 N Fifth Ave, whose own building hours are Monday to Wednesday 10am to 6pm, Thursday and Friday 10am to 7pm, Saturday 9am to 6pm and Sunday 11am to 5pm. Individual tenants vary, and on KindleFest night most of them run later than that.

KindleFest date, hours and programme: first-party, kerrytowndistrict.org/kindlefest, verified 30 Oct 2026. Kerrytown building hours: first-party, kerrytown.com, verified 30 Oct 2026.

One practical note from the organisers that is worth repeating. The Kerrytown District Association has posted a warning about two fraudulent email addresses soliciting payment from vendors, both of them the real address with a “1” added. If you are a vendor rather than a shopper, the association’s real addresses are on its own site and nowhere else.

The same night, four blocks west

Midnight Madness runs on Main Street from 5pm to midnight on that same Friday, and it is the retail event of the Ann Arbor year. The State Street guide makes the point that the downtown retail layer almost never stays open past 7pm on a normal day. On 4 December it is the shops themselves that are the late-night venue.

Three doors worth knowing if you are working out a route:

Spun at 410 N Fourth Ave, the family-owned yarn and craft shop, is running Midnight Madness and its own 11th birthday on the same day, 10am to 11pm. That is its longest day of the year by four hours. Normal hours are Monday to Thursday 10am to 8pm, Friday 10am to 6pm, Saturday 9am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm, so the Friday is usually its earliest close, not its latest.

Vault of Midnight on Main Street runs Sunday to Thursday 11am to 8pm and Friday and Saturday 11am to 10pm, which makes it one of the few downtown shops already open at 10pm on an ordinary Friday.

Zingerman’s Delicatessen at 422 Detroit St is 11am to 7pm daily. It is the most famous address in Kerrytown and it closes before KindleFest’s music starts. Eat there at five, not at eight.

One correction while we are on this block. Thistle & Bess at 222 N Fourth Ave sells fine jewelry and used to be closed both Monday and Tuesday. As of today its own site has it closed Monday only, open Tuesday to Friday 11am to 6pm, Saturday 11am to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm. If you were working from an older schedule, Tuesday is back.

Spun, Vault of Midnight, Zingerman’s and Thistle & Bess hours: first-party, spunannarbor.com, vaultofmidnight.com/locations, zingermansdeli.com and thistleandbess.com, all verified 30 Oct 2026. Spun’s Midnight Madness hours: first-party, the Kerrytown District December 2026 calendar.

The Potters Guild sale, and a date trap on its own website

Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December 2026, 10am to 5pm both days, at 201 Hill Street. Free to walk in.

The Ann Arbor Potters Guild is a cooperative of more than fifty potters that has shared that studio since 1949. It is not a shop and keeps no public hours. It opens to the public for exactly two tent sales a year, the first weekend of June and the first weekend of December, and the December one is the biggest single handmade-ceramics sale in the county.

Here is the trap, and it is the reason to read this paragraph before you drive over. The guild’s own homepage still carries the headline “Next Sale June 6th and 7th, 2026.” That sale has happened. The December dates are published on the same page, but inside the sales banner graphic rather than in the headline text, and a graphic is not something a search engine reads back to you. If you check quickly, or if you ask an assistant to check for you, the answer you get will be June.

The graphic is the current one. The number to confirm on is (734) 663-4970.

If you cannot make that weekend: two markets that run weekly

This is the part no holiday roundup carries, and it is the actual answer for most people reading in November.

The Sunday Artisan Market, every Sunday to 20 December

The Sunday Artisan Market is an independent cooperative of artists and craftspeople in its 35th season, and it rents the Ann Arbor Farmers Market pavilion at 315 Detroit St on the one day of the week the city’s own market does not run. Same roof, different market, different people, no connection between the two beyond the lease.

Every Sunday, 11am to 4pm. Free parking, no admission fee. The 2026 season opened on 12 April and its last market day is Sunday 20 December. That makes it the only weekly handmade market in this county still trading in December, which is a strange thing for the area to keep this quiet about.

Two things make it easy to miss. The City of Ann Arbor publishes nothing about it, because it is a tenant rather than a city programme. And Google lists 315 Detroit St as closed on Sundays, because Google is describing the city’s farmers market and not this one. The building is open. So is the market.

Season dates and hours: first-party, sundayartisanmarket.org, verified 30 Oct 2026. Phone (734) 913-9622. The Google discrepancy was confirmed against a Places lookup the same day.

The Ann Arbor Farmers Market, Saturdays and Wednesdays into Boxing Day

The Ann Arbor Farmers Market does not stop for winter, and most people assume it does.

Saturdays and Wednesdays, 7am to 3pm, right through November and December. The Wednesday season’s last day is Wednesday 23 December 2026. Saturdays keep going without a break, including Saturday 26 December, and then switch to a Saturday-only schedule at 8am to 3pm from January through April.

In practice that means the pavilion at Detroit and Fifth has a market in it on three days of most weeks in December: Wednesday and Saturday for the farmers market, Sunday for the artisan market. For holiday shopping that is the single most reliable address in Washtenaw County, and it is the one address that is not on anybody’s holiday list.

What is on sale in December is not what is on sale in August. Expect storage crops, greens, cheese, meat, bread, preserves, cut greens and wreaths rather than tomatoes. For how the market works and where to park, the farmers market guide goes through it properly.

Days, hours and the 23 December Wednesday end date: first-party, the City of Ann Arbor’s Ann Arbor Farmers Market page and the city’s own Trumba market calendar, both verified 30 Oct 2026, and cross-checked against Google Places the same day. The city does not use the words “winter market” or “indoor market” anywhere, so do not expect one.

The shops that change their hours for the season

Two of these are first-party confirmed and worth planning around.

The Ann Arbor Art Center at 117 W Liberty St runs a gallery shop of work by Michigan artists, and it extends its hours for the season: 6 November to 24 December 2026, Monday to Thursday 10am to 7pm, Friday and Saturday 10am to 8pm, Sunday 10am to 5pm. The rest of the year it is Monday to Saturday 10am to 7pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm. The 8pm Friday and Saturday close is the latest regular holiday-season retail in this guide that is not a one-night event, and the Art Center’s own hours page carries a visible “last updated” date, which is rarer than it should be.

The Art Center has not published a separate holiday shop or artisan market event for 2026 as of today. The extended hours are the holiday offer.

FOUND in the Kerrytown courtyard at 415 N Fifth Ave opens its holiday season with a party on Friday 6 November 2026, 5pm to 8pm, which is the same day the Art Center’s extended hours start. FOUND publishes no opening hours on its own website, so for a normal day, treat it as the Kerrytown courtyard grid and check the building hours above.

A2AC hours: first-party, annarborartcenter.org/about-us/location-hours, page self-dated 8 October 2026, read 30 Oct 2026. FOUND party date: first-party, the Kerrytown District November 2026 calendar, read 30 Oct 2026.

November, before any of this starts

Two craft shows land well before December, and they are the only two we could confirm anywhere in the county.

Pineview Craft Show, Saturday 7 November 2026, Ypsilanti. Fifty artisans selling handmade goods, listed on Ypsi Real’s own event feed. Hours and admission are not published on that feed; a vendor-recruitment aggregator reports $2 and no food booths.

Saline Holiday Craft Show, reported as Saturday 14 November 2026, Saline Middle School, 7190 N Maple Rd. Reported at 8am to 3:30pm, $4 admission with under-fives free, more than 150 vendors.

Treat that second one as unconfirmed, and here is exactly why. Neither the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce nor Saline Area Schools lists it on any public page, and the domain that used to serve it no longer resolves. One widely copied listing dates it to 8 November, which is a Sunday; this show has historically run on a Saturday, and 14 November is the Saturday. Two sources carry identical hours with different dates, which is what it looks like when everyone is copying one blurb and one of the copies has a typo in it.

If you are planning around it, call Saline Community Education on (734) 401-4020 or the middle school on (734) 401-4600 and get the date from a person.

What is not confirmed yet, and who to call

Four things people will search for this season have no published 2026 date as of today. They are listed here rather than omitted, because the alternative is that you find last year’s date somewhere else and plan around it.

Krampusmrkt at the Ypsilanti Freighthouse. The handmade holiday bazaar held its fifth edition on the first weekend of December 2025. There is no 2026 announcement, and the Freighthouse’s own domain no longer resolves at all, which means there is currently no first-party source for anything happening at 100 Market Place. Watch the organisers’ social accounts rather than any calendar.

Ann Arbor Oddities Bazaar: Holiday Edition at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, 5055 Ann Arbor-Saline Rd. Third-party listings report Sunday 20 December 2026, 10am to 4pm, $3 for all ages. The venue’s own events calendar page was opened in a real browser for this guide and it publishes no events at all, for any date. The heading “See Upcoming Events” is followed by nothing. Call (734) 429-3145.

Fiber Expo, at the same grounds. The venue names it as a regular tenant but publishes no dates.

A Chelsea holiday craft show. Chelsea’s Hometown Holiday December calendar is live and its ongoing December items are posted, but it carries no craft or artisan market for 2026 and still shows its 2025 sponsor list. The page says outright that hyperlinks go live as event details arrive. Check back in mid-November rather than assuming.

One market that has already closed for the year

If you are looking for an Ypsilanti farmers market in December, there is not one. The Ypsilanti Farmers Market’s published 2026 season ran 6 June to 31 October, Saturdays 9am to 1pm, and no winter or holiday date has been posted. The Chelsea Farmers Market runs May through October on the same pattern. In this county, December markets are an Ann Arbor thing, and specifically a Kerrytown thing.

Depot Town is still worth the drive on a December Saturday for the shops rather than a market; the Depot Town guide has what is open and when.

The short version

If you can make the first weekend of December, you can do the whole season: KindleFest and Main Street on Friday 4th, the Potters Guild on Saturday 5th, a parade that evening.

If you cannot, go to Kerrytown on a Sunday. The artisan market is there every week until 20 December, the farmers market is there every Saturday and Wednesday until Christmas, and neither one needs you to clear a specific date six weeks out.

For the rest of the season’s planning, the holiday lights guide has every 2026 lighting date and the Christmas tree farm guide has the cut-your-own fields with their real opening weekends. For what is open in Kerrytown on an ordinary day, the Kerrytown guide is the hours grid this one leans on.
